We are aware of recent phishing and scam emails impersonating GrantConnect. We advise all users to remain vigilant and to not click on links or open attachments that appear suspicious. The following definitions apply for the purpose of GrantConnect:

Agency means (as the context requires) any one or more Commonwealth entity or Commonwealth company as those terms are defined in the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 (Cth)

Forecast Opportunities (FOs) are used to advertise potential Grant Opportunities (GOs) by providing limited information and an estimated period of release of the potential GO. Information on how to apply for grants will be specified on individual GOs.

Refers to the specific grant round or process where a Commonwealth grant is made available to potential grantees. Grant opportunities may be open or targeted, and will reflect the relevant grant selection process.

Australian Government’s whole-of-government grants information system, which centralises the publication and reporting of Commonwealth grants.

The time and date that Grant applications must be submitted as detailed in the relevant GO documentation;

Includes:

(i) loss of income or revenue;
(ii) a loss of opportunity or goodwill;
(iii) a loss of profits;
(iv) a loss of anticipated savings or business;
(v) loss of value of any equipment;
(vi) loss or corruption of data;
(vii) pure economic loss; and
(viii) any indirect loss

A GO Application that is not submitted before the Closing Time

Any person (including an individual or organisation/company) that has registered an account on GrantConnect;

The Agency that issued the GO documentation;

An application submitted to the relevant GO using the Grant Connect website

Any person (including an individual or organisation/company) that is accessing or using GrantConnect and includes a Registered User

Grants are widely used to achieve government policy outcomes which support our Nation’s jobs, growth and innovation. The Australian Government provides grants to a wide number of stakeholders for the benefit of all Australians. Each year billions of dollars’ worth of grants benefit the public including through:

increased social services;
expanded opportunities for businesses;
emergency relief; and
research and innovation.

A Grant Opportunity is a collective term used to describe any notice published on GrantConnect inviting potential recipients to apply for an Australian government grant.

Forecast Opportunities are an advertisement of potential Grant Opportunities, providing limited information and an estimated period of release. Forecast Opportunities are used to alert potential grant applicants of upcoming opportunities and to assist in their application planning. All Forecast Opportunities are subject to revision, withdrawal or cancellation.

A Grant Award (GA) is a record reported on GrantConnect that contains information about a grant awarded by an Australian Government entity. Grant Awards must be published on GrantConnect within 21 days of a grant agreement taking effect.

Grant Awards are published on GrantConnect as point-in-time records of the outcomes of grants processes conducted in line with the Commonwealth Grants Rules and Guidelines (CGRGs).

The mandate for Federal Government agencies to publish their Grant Awards on GrantConnect came into effect on 31 December 2017.

Each Grant Program has individual eligibility criteria and application processes.

Each Grant Opportunity includes details on eligibility criteria, and can be different for each one.

GrantConnect provides a centralised listing of available Grant Opportunities, allows you to be notified of opportunities as they are published and provides details of Grants Awarded.

There are a number of reasons why you can't find the program including:

1. GrantConnect is a Commonwealth platform. State and Territory programs do not report on GrantConnect.

2. It is not a Grant Program seeking applications. Some programs are administered in a different manner such as a rebate and are not listed on GrantConnect (e.g. HomeBuilder Grant).

No, there are a number of rules which govern which entities must publish on GrantConnect and what they are required to publish.

For all non-corporate Commonwealth entities (agencies) under the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013, GrantConnect is the central point for mandatory publication of all publicly available Commonwealth Government Grant Opportunities. Some Corporate Commonwealth entities (agencies) also have publishing obligations. Further information on these obligations can be found at:

You will only receive email notifications that match the keyword(s) or locations that you have selected in your GrantConnect notification profile. Settings which are too prescriptive could lead to missed opportunities.

If you believe you are missing out on being notified of particular Grant Opportunities, check your notification settings and locations selected in your GrantConnect notification profile.

Email delivery failure and internet or other technical issues may also occur for a variety of reasons which are outside of GrantConnect’s control or due to problems occurring in your own environment. For this reason, it is advisable that you check GrantConnect periodically for new Grant Opportunities and Forecast Opportunities.

As a Registered User of GrantConnect you can keep informed of opportunities as they are released to your nominated email address.

There are no fees to register, no limitations on how many people in your organisation can have accounts and no subscription fee.

GrantConnect is a Commonwealth Government site designed as a single point of discovery.

Grant Programs are listed in GrantConnect across a number of Administering Entities regardless of the program objectives.

GrantConnect is a free web based platform.

Browsing information on GrantConnect does not require registration.

However, to download documentation, access restricted content, submit applications or set up notifications you must be a registered user.

If you download Grant Opportunity documentation it is important for you to ensure that your email address is current. This is the address that notifications about addenda issuance, Grant Opportunity process changes and Grant Opportunity / Forecast Opportunity notifications will be sent.
